S.Pellegrino commits to Carbon Neutrality by 2022
At S.Pellegrino, we care about protecting the sources of taste and nurturing a life in harmony with the planet, today and for generations to come. That's why we have announced the ambitious commitment to achieve Carbon Neutrality in all of our operations by 2022.
This means reducing and offsetting carbon dioxide emissions in four key areas: production, packaging, logistics and natural capital.
S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna have been working for years to reduce energy consumption in our production plants. Using energy exclusively from renewable sources, we have reduced CO2 emissions by around 60% over the last 9 years. What's more, S.Pellegrino will soon open a groundbreaking new green Factory Of the Future, built using locally sourced materials and featuring energy-efficient lighting and a rainwater recycling system to make it a "zero water impact" facility.
All our bottles and cans are made of 100% recyclable materials, and we are increasing the use of recycled plastic in our bottles and the wrapping of our multipacks.
We are also working to reduce emissions related to logistics, for example through innovative means of transport, like our fleet of vehicles fuelled by LNG, the fossil fuel with the lowest carbon intensity. And we are further reducing our impact by rapidly moving to Bio-LNG for both land and sea transport.
Finally, we are committed to the sustainable management of shared water resources, as demonstrated by our certification with the AWS (Alliance for Water Stewardship).
