The night of the 19th of May had been simply magical for 400 lucky guests. The unique dining experience took place nothing but on the Grand Roue on Place de la Concorde in Paris.
How did this all start ? The 9th of May, Shintaro Awa, young sous chef at the Epicure, restaurant of the Hotel Bristol in Paris, won the French selections of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2016 with his signature dish “Mackerel and Potatoes”.
To celebrate the event, S.Pellegrino organized a very special event: a starred dinner for 400 guests in the 48 cabins of the Grand Roue, dining at 70 metres high and with a spectacular view on the Champs-Elysées, the Tuileries Garden and the Louvre Museum.
A special menu with signature dishes by Shintaro Awa and his mentor Yannick Alléno
In the menu, together with the “Mackerel and Potatoes” by Shintaro Awa, there was also a dish by Yannick Alléno, that is mentoring the young going toward the finals that will take place in October: “White Argenteuil Asparagus in jelly and sauce of fresh herbes”.
The team that worked in the kitchen set up at the Grand Roue made an astonishing service, and the guests were beyond expectations satisfied at the end of the dinner. A fantastic start for Awa and Alléno that during the upcoming months will work together to get ready for the October finals in Milano.
